Milestones: Crawling

The past few weeks have been pretty eventful around here (is it any wonder we've been getting pretty rough sleep?), but all for good things! Aside from the first tooth and sitting unassisted, Mr. Ryan has also begun crawling! He isn't super fast just yet (mostly on account of him sliding on the hard wood floors), but he can definitely get the things he wants at this point.

I'm hoping to attach video soon, but it's late, and I don't feel like uploading it, as he's fussing upstairs for his dream feed.

MIlestones: Sitting Unassisted

Ryan has been sitting unassisted for a few weeks now, starting about a week before he turned six months old. He doesn't prefer to sit, though, as he prefers to be on his belly CRAWLING.

Milestone: First Tooth (6 Months)

We just discovered Ryan's first tooth has finally popped through! It is on his bottom row in the front on his left side. His second one popped through just a few days later. Oddly, the one on his left (the right, as you look at him) is actually a little chipped already. We have no idea if that's just the way it grew in, or if something happened that caused it. He doesn't seem bothered by it at all.

Now we're on to the next set of teeth, no doubt, as we've had quite a tumultuous past few months of sleep, and that hasn't lessened.

Firsts: Baby Food

We've tried a couple times now to feed Ryan something other than milk, as he seems very interested in food while we're eating. We've discovered, however, that oatmeal cereal, squash, and a Pears/Oats/Quinoa pouch are not at the top of Ryan's list.

His first food was at 5 and a half months: First oatmeal mixed with breastmilk, which didn't go well, then squash, which went even worse!

We did try a couple weeks later with a Plum Organics pouch of Pears, Oats and Quinoa, and it went slightly better, but we still only made it through a few bites before he was just done.

First Day at Daycare (June 6)

Ryan had his first day at daycare today, and he did great! He started out not loving his bottle, as expected, but by the end of the day he had no problem finishing off a 4.5oz bottle, so I'm pleased about that! He also napped really well, which meant we got to see more of him in the evening. Mama certainly enjoyed those evening snuggles :)

I forgot to take any pictures in the rush of getting out of the house, and then today being our grocery shopping day and all, but he was all smiles when we dropped him off, and while checking in on him throughout the day, our daycare provider reassured me that he was a very easy, good baby, so I take it that means he wasn't bawling his ever loving eyes out all day: Super comforting to this mama!

Milestones: First Night in the Crib (May 25)

After spending the first two months (and a few weeks after, really) sleeping in bed with Mama at night, we finally began transitioning to the rock and play sleeper at around 9 weeks, and then this past Tuesday night, we finally decided to just try the crib to see how it would go.

It was a SMASHING success! We have done naps and bed times in the crib the past three nights, and he has slept 7 straight hours at the beginning of the night followed by an additional 3 after being up to eat. He sleeps from 10pm-5am in the crib, then eats and sleeps until between 8-9am. I am so thrilled!
